We have been working on a project about Animals in Winter and we read the story called "The Mitten" by Jan Brett. It gave us an idea to write our own story.
We had a few ideas of what to write the story about using different pieces of clothing. We thought of snowpants, shirts, gloves, boots and then decided on a backpack. We chose to have two backpacks because there are two children in the story and we couldn't decide whether to have a boy or a girl so we chose to have both.
We have been learning interesting information about each of the animals from different books and put those facts into our story. We have also been making this like a math story because at the end of each part, we made a math equation to go with what was happening in the story.
We are still writing our story (because it takes a long time to write) but are planning to have a book launch when we are done. We will let you know the details when it comes closer to the date.
This is a sneak peek from our story called The Backpacks.
Before long, the sun started to set and the first star appeared. Millions of other stars joined the first star and when the moon was at the highest part in the sky, it was night. The moon shone brightly on the two lonely backpacks lying all by themselves behind the school.
Suddenly two mice appeared from their tunnel under the snow out looking for a warm place to sleep and a little bedtime snack. “Sniff, sniff… It smells like cheese and crackers.” They said. They kept scurrying on the snow until they came upon the backpacks. They buried themselves deep, deep in the backpack and started snacking on the leftover cheese and crackers. 0+2=2
Stay tuned for the rest of our story. We hope to be done by the end of April.
