November News

Our Remembrance Day Ceremony

Last Wednesday, our class got to go to the Remembrance Day Ceremony in the gym with the rest of the school.  It was a sad ceremony so we didn't clap.  We were listening to the videos and the speakers.  Our class performed a poem called Little Poppy:
Little Poppy
Little Poppy given to me
Help me keep Canada safe and free
I'll wear a little poppy
As red as red can be
To show that I remember
Those who fought for me.

Vy:  It was sad in the ceremony and everybody almost cried. I cried.

Payton:  Some of us had family members who were in the war.

Madeline:  Some of us had grandpas or dads that went to war.

Aarsheya:  It made me feel sad because there were a lot of soldiers who died.

Sartaj:  My grandpa went in the war and I thought he was going to die but actually he was still alive.

Our Interesting Teacher Visits

We interviewed teachers we thought were interesting and did a project about hem.  We wrote invitations and invited them to come to our class so we could share our work with them. They came this week to see what we did.

Anas:  Mr. McMullen came to see mine and he said I did awesome work.

Muaaz:  We made comment cards for them to write about what they thought about our work.

Hannah:  Ms. Overacker came to see my work and she said that I was a great artist.

Nathan:  Mr. Evans-Rymes came and he said that I was the greatest artist in the world.

Shaan:  Mrs. Kivitt said that I was a good artist.

Brody:  Mr. K came to see what I did and he said he liked my work.
Mansour:  Mrs. Woelber teaches Kindergarten.  She likes to go swimming and she likes to go play piano and she likes to play bingo.  She liked the picture and the work I did.

Jayden:  Mr. K came he liked my work.

Aarsheya:  Mr. Evans-Rymes said that he thinks I am a smart girl.

Madeline:  Mrs. Paulsen was very surprised about the work I did.

Viral:  Mrs. Kivitt came and she said that your writing is so cool and Shaan's writing is good too.

The teachers felt special that we chose to interview them.

Two Months are Already Gone!

Halloween Party
On Friday, October 29 we had a Halloween party.  We got to go in a haunted house.  In the haunted house we got to touch, hear and see scary things.  We got spooked by touching in boxes that had spider webs around them. Inside there was a light that creeped us out.  Frankenstein would goof around a lot in the haunted house.

We got to wear our costumes.  We dressed up as, angels, skeletons, princesses, Batmen, stealth ninjas, Avatars, fire fighters, pirates, butterflies, Superman, candy corn witches, pumpkins, sugar plum fairies, Michael Jackson, race car drivers, giraffes and Captain Rex (from Star Wars).

We ate lots of snacks and had a lot of fun!

Teacher Interviews
As a part of our school project, we were wanting to know who the teachers were, where they came from and what they teach now.  We went on a tour to find teachers that looked interesting to us.  Once we decided, we interviewed them and asked them a few questions about themselves.  When we had our information, we wrote a rough copy first then we wrote our good copies.  Some of us painted pictures of our teachers, some of us built teachers out of plasticine and some of us built teachers using recycled materials.  We are going to invite all of the interesting teachers we interviewed to come in our classroom and see our work.

School Photos
We all got our photos taken and we all had big smiles on our faces.  We are looking forward to getting them back.

Goal Setting Conferences
Our Moms and Dads came into the school on Wednesday and Thursday to meet with us and talk about how great we're doing.  We set a goal about something we want to get better at and figured out what we already do well.

Diwali
Today is Diwali!  We are excited because some of us celebrate us Diwali.  To celebrate the festival of lights, children get to use fireworks and fire crackers.  You have to eat lots and lots of sweets.  We read the story about Diwali and it told us all about how Diwali got started and why we celebrate it today.
